4-Week ONLINE PROGRAM (a Virtual Gathering) - "The Way of Openness"

THE WAY OF OPENNESS:

discovering our essential nature

4-Week Online Program (a virtual gathering)

This Online Program is an exploration of our essential nature as openness, and how the recognition of this openness is the foundation of true freedom.

Please note — this online program is an excellent adjunct to the 4-month “A Revolution of Love” program starting on April 7th.

Over 4 weeks, Amoda will explore the meaning of openness from a nondual perspective and unpack some of the veils of perception that prevent us from living as this openness in all circumstances. She will also offer potent pointers to the liberation from ego-identity when this openness is recognized as our natural state.

We do recommend some familiarity with Amoda’s teaching before joining this course — either by having watched some of her videos and/or having read either of her books “Falling Open in a World Falling Apart” or “Embodied Enlightenment” and/or having attended one of her in-person or online events or private sessions.

This online course is an opportunity to meet directly with Amoda and to engage in an intimate dialogue, as well as an opportunity to gather with others from all around the world who are also passionate about spiritual inquiry and living an awakened life.

Online events are moderated by Kavi.

Each 120 minute session will include a discourse about the theme for the week, followed by Q&As.

We will be using Zoom, which is free to download and very easy to use. All you need to participate is a computer (or device) with a built-in speaker, microphone,  and camera, and access to the internet.

PLEASE NOTE — If you cannot join live due to time zone differences, or you miss a session, a recording of the meeting each week will be made available. If you cannot join live and have a question(s) you would like to present to Amoda, you can send that in via email before the weekly session begins.

Topics —

Week 1 - Untangling the Ego

The ego is often believed to be a “thing” we must get rid of — by offering a deeper understanding of the ego as a “process” we can start to disentangle ourselves from “who we think we are” and discover our essential nature.

In Week 1, we will explore:

  • Seeing how getting lost in the content of our experience is the basis of the formation of ego-identity and the root of unhappiness.

  • The invitation in each moment to “stop” — how the tight knot of ego comes undone naturally when we are willing to remain as relaxed presence.

  • The “bifurcation point” of psychological suffering as a catalyst for the collapse of ego-identity and the revelation of true nature as open awareness.

Week 2 - Becoming Aware of Awareness

Self-inquiry is a turning of attention to the source of all experience — in other words, becoming aware of the primordial ground of Being.

In Week 2, we will explore:

  • Softening attention and relaxing into the open space that is the background of all experience.

  • The nakedness of meeting our experience “without interpretation” and “without interference”.

  • Becoming aware of the “fact” of awareness as that which is ever-present in all circumstances and as that which never changes its nature.

Week 3 - The Myth of Separation

The unexamined belief in an entity called “me” that exists independently of all other entities (things) is at the root of an existential fear.

In Week 3, we will explore:

  • Unpacking the illusion of separation by examining the difference between “me” (limited, time-bound, space-defined) and “I” (eternal, infinite, non-localized).

  • Meeting the existential void of emptiness, dying as the “me” and being reborn as the “I” — the greatest freedom!

  • Recognizing that “you” and “life” are inseparable — merging into the oneness of Being and knowing the source of all things.

Week 4 - Unconditional Openness

Open awareness is unconditioned and unconditional — by recognizing this, seeking and resistance come to an end and we discover the fulfillment of our natural state.

In Week 4, we will explore:

  • Surrender as the natural and effortless path to true happiness and peace — relaxing into the now.

  • Abiding as the “I” in the midst of all experiences and all circumstances — the paradox of intimacy with all things and yet freedom from all things.

  • Devotion to this moment — the ultimate prayer.
